Expense claim forms for Councillor Pat Williams 2013 to 2014

Councillor Pat Williams is a Liberal Democrat councillor for Oxton ward and is Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group. Her expenses claims are for attendance at meetings of Council, the Corporate Parenting Group, the Licensing Act 2003 Subcommittee, the Attainment Subcommittee, the Wirral Awards Working Party, the Oxton Conservation Society, the Licensing Panel, the Youth Parliament, the Licensing, Health and Safety and General Purposes Committee, the Birkenhead Constituency Committee, the Community First Funding Panel (part of the Birkenhead Constituency Committee), meetings with officers, an Employment and Appointments Committee appointments panel, training, the Improvement Board and various briefings.

She is the last in the series of councillors expenses forms for 2013-14. I did also ask for the underlying information supporting these expenses claims such as petrol receipts, parking receipts, tunnel toll receipts, taxi receipts, train tickets, hotel expenses et cetera. Although I made this request as part of the audit back in August I’m still waiting! However for the twenty or so councillors one petrol receipt was provided!

In some cases I have not been given information for the correct financial year. It is certainly something I need to follow-up with officers, who blame it on Wirral Council’s HR department supplying incorrect information or not supplying it when requested!

  1. Quite modest and acceptable claims from a party leader! And with such a lot of roles I would have expected it to be more!

    1. Well interestingly Cllr Pat Williams was the person that proposed suspending my membership of the Liberal Democrats seconded by former Cllr Ann Bridson.

Apparently in the complaint that this relates to sent to Cllr Pat Williams I am a person known as Martin Morton! Oh and I’m also someone else too called Hugo!

And apparently what I found out during all this is a Lib Dem councillor stated in an email that Cllr Steve Foulkes is a “well known Liberal Democrat councillor”.

      They’re wonderfully creative aren’t they?

Anyway it went to court many months and it turned out Cllr Pat Williams had done something wrong! (oh dear)

In that she (and others) had “forgotten” to send the correct complaint about me before my disciplinary panel meeting (oh dear!)

Oh and then they proceeded to hold the disciplinary panel meeting without me being allowed to attend the first twenty minutes (double oh dear!)

So hey, she knows a thing or two about abuses of power and procedural unfairness as yes you guessed it, a similar thing was done to her over libraries (and that turned out so well for the Lib Dems didn’t it?)

And what was this complaint about you may ask?

Well apparently the complaint Cllr Pat Williams suspended me over was from Simon Holbrook (who was also a proxy for Ann Bridson).

However Pat Williams already knew that the former was a liar and that the latter had had a “medical problem” that affected her memory.

Sad really? I wasn’t allowed to face either Ann Bridson (making a proxy complaint through Simon Holbrook) or Simon Holbrook at my disciplinary panel meeting as I was told the latter was out of the country (he now lives and works in Spain).

Oh well that’s the Lib Dems for you, allow a suspension over a “secret complaint” (that you don’t share with the person in advance of the disciplinary meeting) that’s a pack of lies and isn’t about you,

Organise a “disciplinary meeting” (read kangaroo court), which “unanimously decide” that lies are truth and well, oh wel that’s alright you have a right of appeal.

So I do appeal, but it’s turned down because I didn’t before the meeting have a copy of the complaint (which according to their constitution means the disciplinary meeting can’t go ahead)!

      Great eh!?

Now the interesting thing is even after a court order naming Cllr Alan Brighouse, I didn’t get a copy of the complaint.

Am I to drag the party and its politicians back into a court room and allege contempt of court? Is it worth it?

No, I just walk with my feet and moan about them forever more (which is probably what they didn’t want).
