Continues from Cllr Lesley Rennie refers to proposed Saughall Massie fire station site in green belt as “a piece of scrappy land”.

CLLR JEAN STAPLETON (Lead Member for Finance, Assets and Efficiencies) representing Wirral Council: I would definitely go with the Chief’s recommendation and I concur with Councillor Rennie but I would suggest also Lesley you might have a word with your colleagues in West Wirral because there’s an opportunity for them here to show some political leadership in the community to help them, I hate to say but get their priorities right for humanity’s sake!

To weigh up humanity against the scrappy piece of land is really not an option is it really? It should be easy for people to make the right decision now and I would suggest that there is an opportunity for politicians in west Wirral to get their priorities right for the sake of the residents that they represent.

CLLR DAVE HANRATTY (Chair, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Authority representing Liverpool City Council):Thanks, any other comments, Tony?

CLLR TONY ROBERTSON (representing Sefton Council): Thanks Chair, again I think I’d like to say that I think we’re going in the right direction here but I speak as an environmental campaigner who’s spent an awful lot of my time trying to prevent green belt development.

I’ve been doing it for weeks on end recently and not necessarily very successfully either but that’s a different story. What I’m concerned about here is that I think I’m hearing a special circumstance and life and limb clearly is a special circumstance.

So I think there is every reason for us to be able to put forward a credible argument for the use of this site whereas the vast majority of the time my immediate reaction to building on green belt is ‘no under any circumstances’ but I think life and limb are special circumstances so it has my support.

  1. Is this the same Councillor Jean Stapleton who voted to keep an abusive council leader who’d presided over the thieving of £736,756.97 from “sitting duck” learning disabled council tenants over a period of NINE years, despite Martin Morton telling them it was unlawful, only to be driven out of his job and later independently vindicated? When it was too late?

I believe it is the same Councillor Jean Stapleton.

Did she vote to keep systematic disabled abuser Foulkes as leader of a bullying, power abusing (independently vindicated) council…

    “FOR THE SAKE OF HUMANITY”?

  2. Nice of Councillor Tony Robinson to show he cares about life and limb.

Does he care for the life and limb of autistic people ‘cared for’ by untrained thugs, who’ve been taken off the street, given the job, paid peanuts, and who react to challenging behaviour by knocking the vulnerable person’s teeth out?

If he does, he would have squared up to and challenged his party colleague Mayor Joe Anderson – who’s been trying his utmost, and squandering pots of public money hand over fist on his legal team for a couple of years now (backed by the moribund, ex-Rotherham Liverpool City CEO Ged Fitzgerald)…

…all in a vain attempt to cover this horrific brutality up.

  3. G’day John

Rumour is someone is standing down.

What’s the goss my know all?

Know all in the best, nicest, respectful, possible way.

    Ooroo

    James

He won’t be missed, in fact there will be celebrations in the streets.

  4. I wonder if this piece of land was next to Cllr Rennie’s her home, i bet it wouldn’t be call scrappy!
