Despite the partial U-turn on car parking charges by Wirral’s Cabinet previously reported on this blog, after campaigns by Conservative and Lib Dem councillors on Wirral Council, the Mayor has granted a request for a special meeting to debate the increase in proposed charges at existing car parks and the introduction of car parking charges at various country parks.

The extraordinary meeting of Wirral Council will be held on the 6th March 2017 starting at 5.30 pm in the Council Chamber at Wallasey Town Hall, Brighton Street, Seacombe, CH44 8ED.

A notice of motion to that meeting (proposed by Conservative councillors), which can be read in full on Wirral Council’s website asks for the following:

“Council therefore requests the Leader of the Council to:

(a) withdraw his proposal of a 20p increase on all existing car parking tariffs

and

(b) withdraw his plan to introduce car parking charges at Wirral’s parks in their entirety”

  1. So they are going to have a debate on the parking chargers, plus earn their expenses as they talk about it, and to what end! why don’t they nip down to the pub and have debate there, thus saving tax payers some money that could be used else where where its needed.

    1. Well at the end of the debate, there will be a vote by councillors on the motion I quoted from above. So the end as you put it is for councillors to make a decision on the matter.

  2. G’day John

Do they try and recall their sins often?

InfoMgr, FinDMT would like to recall the message, “FOI 1125196 – Police crime commissioner election expenses”

How can that wirral judge wriggle them out of this my boy?

Any court cases starring “Sir Git” “The Shyster” and his his boy barista from London with a smaller watch than him coming up?

You would have thought they would have given “The Shyst” a decent free pen when he bought that massive “kettle and hob”.

    1. Hi,

If there are our agreement with Courtserve unfortunately doesn’t allow me to divulge such information about upcoming hearings.

However on the wellness theme, you may be interested to hear that Cllr Ron Abbey is suffering from pneumonia.

      All the best,

    In regard to

You must have seen this by now and all those familiar names.

Are they just protecting “The Shyster” or is there some other “funny biziness” involved?

    Just askin?

    1. I did read all 70 pages of it, before they got in touch with whatdotheyknow.com and had it taken down.

The areas I found most interesting was where Wirral Council couldn’t find receipts, invoices and had cost overruns in a lot of areas.

At least one of the justifications for one of the cost overruns (it was something like the polling station supervisors being one per a ward rather than one per 10 polling stations) was along the lines of "Well, we disagree with you with how to run elections properly, we’re doing it this way… because well we think your model is wrong!"

and there was a lot of, well this bit may be overspent, but this group of figures has underspends, so counting the underspends against the overspends it’s not so bad is it?

The 2012 PCC election was run as a standalone election in November 2012, I’m sure the 2016 PCC election costs for Wirral cost less as some of the costs would’ve been shared with the local elections on the same day.

I think it was also in the case bundle for the Employment Tribunal you and I were both at involving Alison Mountney.

It’s been referred to at an open hearing, so let’s face it the thing they’re trying to hide has already been made public!

      1. G’day John

Like the thicker than the chair Chair of the Fudge It and Risk It Mis-Management Committee “The Pretend Friend” says to “Highbrow” I don’t understand accounting boyo.

Or, as Mr (bilong) “Nurse Rat” says to “Highbrow” in a public book shop lets not talk politics.

What is the purpose of the man John?

        Oh yes I remember.

stoolie: Noun. 1. stoolie – someone acting as an informer or decoy for the police. canary, fink, snitch, stool pigeon, stoolpigeon, sneaker, snitcher, sneak. betrayer, blabber, informer, squealer, rat – one who reveals confidential information in return for money.

    2. In answer to your question, the information Wirral Council released included the names and payments for every Wirral Council employee involved in that PCC election in 2012 and the payments to third parties too (for example purchase of stationery, kettles, temporary polling stations etc).

Strictly speaking, that sort of detail of information is only supposed to be released if there are judicial proceedings to do with the election. For example a judicial challenge to the election result, Employment Tribunal proceedings etc…

The FOI request only asked for part of the information that was released, not the whole lot!

I mean yes, there’s supposed to be openness and transparency about the election process, but a lot of the names that were released aren’t supposed to be released in response to a FOI request.

      1. Thanks John

I will just quote the great me, whistleblower 1

They wouldn’t know “The Shyster’s” voluminous backside from his voluminous “kettle and hob”.

  5. G’day John

Are you noticing how more and more people are working out what the crud in the Clown Hall, god bless those nice doormen who have to let them in, is like.

I do not condone violence in any way, although as I always say to “Highbrow” we would have got a better result over Wirral “Funny” Bizz if we had smashed a window in the Clown Hall.

A comment in their rubbish ex-local propaganda sheet

The sooner every spin doctor/consultant and other money sponges are taken outside and shot the better. If not for all the damage they do now, but the knock on effects they have on society as a whole. They have created a culture in which it’s completely acceptable to treat the people they are supposed to be representing like morons who will swallow up any lie they care to tell us. Only problem is that lying and not taking responsibility for any failures or mistakes has become so endemic that it’s now the standard way to do things for whoever is in power. Is it any wonder society has become so cynical about politicians and their motives, and that denying/ lying/ blaming others is adopted as acceptable practice by society as a whole. I have absolutely no idea what can be done to reverse this other than how I started this post.

    Almost a perfect comment.

In there ex-local propaganda sheet but probably won’t go in the next issue of their comic

Wirral Ladies Golf Club set to relaunch under new name

John would you like to mention to “Phil the Very Very Very Very Slimy, Elusive and LYING Dill” next time that you see him golf on wirral is maybe not that popular as this club seems to be struggling.

    Ooroo

    James

They have a game at this club like what some senior people play at wirral, not the golf course.

This is why throughout the winter golfers can ‘turn up and play’ and throw a ‘ball into the hat’ for partners.

    1. My late grandfather used to be a member of that golf club, so I know it well.

It’s also within walking distance of where I live.

The councillors yesterday were using golf against Cllr Phil Davies.
