Decision Review Committee (Wirral Council) 10th August 2021 Car Parking Charges Call In

At the end of two lengthy public meetings which you can watch above (and you can read a report on the previous adjourned meeting here), a majority of councillors voted to uphold the decision of Wirral Council’s Environment, Climate Emergency and Transport Committee to go ahead with car parking charges options 1, 3 and 4 (as outlined in this report. The changes were opposed by Conservative and Lib Dem councillors but voted through by Labour and Green councillors, however Lib Dem councillor Chris Carubia voted in favour to consult on charges at new locations and increase charges at existing locations that charge.

On Monday evening the Joint Health Scrutiny Committee met at Wallasey Town Hall. Cllrs Yvonne Nolan, Christina Muspratt and Mary Jordan were the three from Wirral Council. Cllrs Lynn Riley, Kate Cernik and Michael Edwardson were the three from Cheshire West and Chester Council.

Updated 5:27pm 1.7.2019 to reflect Wirral Council’s changed position on webcasting the meeting.

On Monday 1st July 2019 starting at 6.00 pm in the Council Chamber (1st floor) at Wallasey Town Hall, Brighton Street, Seacombe, CH44 8ED the Wirral & Cheshire West and Chester Joint Scrutiny Committee meets for its second public meeting to consider the consultation (which ran from 12th September 2018 to the 20th December 2018) on the closures of walk in centres. This public meeting was originally supposed to happen in February 2019, was then rearranged to June 2019 (that public meeting was then cancelled) and finally rearranged to the 1st July 2019.

Councillors Yvonne Nolan (Labour), Tony Norbury (Labour) and Mary Jordan (Conservative) are the 3 Wirral Council councillors on it. Councillors Kate Cernik (Labour), Michael Edwardson (Labour) and Lynn Riley (Conservative) are the 3 Chester West and Chester councillors on it.
