Adult Care and Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee (Wirral Council) 12th November 2018 Part 19 of 19

Councillors on Wirral Council’s Adult Care and Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee met for over three and a half hours yesterday evening (12th November 2018) to discuss the current Wirral Clinical Commissioning Group consultation on changes to urgent care provision (Walk-In Centres and Minor Injuries Units).

At the end of the meeting, councillors in a split decision (8:5:1) made a recommendation to the Wirral Clinical Commissioning Group to end the consultation (which was planned to run to the 12th December 2018) and for the Wirral CCG to come up with further options than the two options on opening hours.

The Wirral Clinical Commissioning Group has 28 days to formally respond to the recommendation and can either agree with the recommendation or give its formal reasons to Wirral Council in writing as to why it won’t.

Although there was a call from Dr Mantgani for councillors to refer the consultation to the Secretary of State, councillors didn’t choose this option. Dr Mantgani has campaigned against the closures of the Walk-In Centres & Minor Injuries Units and petitions against closing these for adults (apart from the Arrowe Park Walk-In Centre which would become an Urgent Treatment Centre) have been signed by over 11,000 petitioners.

2 thoughts on “What did councillors recommend about the Wirral CCG consultation to close (for adults) 3 Walk-In Centres and 3 Minor Injuries Units?”

  1. If these walk in centre’s are closed, i hope voters remember this when it comes time to vote for these clowns next time?
Most of us pay income tax some of which goes to the N.H.S and we also pay Council Tax which also goes to the N.H.S, so we are paying two taxes, and they come up with this?

    1. If the Walk-In Centres are closed (the consultation isn’t over yet and is planned to end on the 12th December 2018), from memory I think the date that’s pencilled in for closure is in late 2019, many months after the next set of elections in May 2019.

Yes the costs of the Walk-In Centres are funded through taxes.
