Last week was the first public meeting of the Wirral and Cheshire West and Chester Joint Health Scrutiny Committee to discuss the Wirral Clinical Commissioning Group consultation on Walk In Centres and Minor Injuries Units.

The consultation finished on the 12th December 2018.

The Committee has three councillors from Cheshire West and Chester Council (Cllrs Val Armstrong, Margaret Parker and Ben Powell) and three from Wirral Council (Cllrs Julie McManus, Sharon Jones and Wendy Clements).

During the meeting councillors had an opportunity to question those present from the Wirral Clinical Commissioning Group about why only two options had been consulted on as well as what would happen next.

Also addressing the public meeting were two councillors who represent Eastham Cllrs Gilchrist and Carubia.

The Joint Health Scrutiny Committee agreed a long resolution at the end of its meeting. The resolution stated that the Wirral CCG proposal was a substantial variation and that having carefully considered the responses by the Wirral CCG, it resolved to meet again in February 2019 to consider whether consultation had been adequate. This is prior to an expected decision by the Wirral CCG on the next stage in April 2019.
