What are the changes to bin collection dates on the Wirral and what did I blow the whistle on to Liverpool City Council?

Well, just a quick blog post. You’ve probably noticed some changes that have happened over the past week. However (the below applies to household collections on the Wirral) bin days are changing this week due to the social distancing measures.

According to Wirral Council:

If your collection should have been yesterday (Monday) – your collection will now take place today (Tuesday). Please leave your bin at the usual collection point, or take it in and make sure to put it out again Tuesday morning at 7am.

If your collections normally take place on Tuesday – your collection will take place on Tuesday or Wednesday.

If your collection normally takes place on Wednesday – your collection will take place on Wednesday or Thursday.

If your collection normally takes place on Thursday – your collection will take place on Thursday or Friday.

If your collection normally takes place on Friday – your collection will take place on Friday or Saturday.

I’d love to tell you what’s going on over the River Mersey at Liverpool City Council but as pointed out in a communication to me dated 9th March 2020, they consider journalism as “disruptive to the conduct of council business” so out of respect for their strange culture of bullying and threats, I’d better not write about them but it is to be expected when you blow the whistle internally on alleged criminality within that organisation.

If you click on any of the buttons below, you’ll be doing me a favour by sharing this article with other people.

  1. Social distancing measures what’s that got to do with collecting bins, or are the bins to be placed two metres apart?

    1. Thanks for your comment.

Not only would it mean Biffa employees have to be presumably two metres apart from each other (bear in mind that they usually work in pairs), it would also apply to other people around when they’re doing it too – hence why it takes longer.

      I hope that explains it.
