What were the results of the European Parliament elections, Champions League Final, McDonalds planning application and other local news stories?
The results of the European Parliamentary Elections in the Northwest England region were announced last week and were as follows:-
Brexit Party (3 seats) – Claire Fox, Henrik Overgaard-Nielsen, David Bull
Liberal Democrats (2 seats) – Chris Davies, Jane Brophy
Labour (2 seats) – Julie Ward, Theresa Griffin
Green (1 seat) – Gina Dowding
The Conservative Party, UKIP, Change UK, English Democrat, UK EU and two independent candidates failed to win any seats in this region.
The eight elected Members of the European Parliament will take up their seats on 2nd July 2019.
This weekend saw the River Festival return over the two days of the weekend in Liverpool (as well as a much smaller River Festival on the Wirral side of the River Mersey).
Liverpool FC also beat Tottenham Hotspur two-nil in the Champions League Final in Madrid.
In more local news Wirral Council’s Planning Committee approved a planning application for a McDonalds in Prenton on Thursday evening. A consultation on the future of Birkenhead Town Centre also started.
