Wirral Council approved £50,000 for transport study connected to Hoylake Golf Resort
Despite growing public concern about the plans for Hoylake Golf Resort resulting in a public meeting next month organised by the local MP, yesterday Wirral Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport Cllr Stuart Whittingham (pictured above) approved £50,000 to be spent with consultants Mott McDonald for a “Saughall Massie Infrastructure Improvements Study”.
The Saughall Massie infrastructure improvements (to Saughall Massie Road) depend on the controversial link road (also known as Hoylake Bypass) for the Hoylake Golf Resort going ahead.
Wirral Council’s Cabinet will make a further decision on the Hoylake Golf Resort project (involving land assembly and associated legal issues) in private session at some point between the start of December 2017 and the end of March 2018.
The public meeting arranged by the local MP Margaret Greenwood will take place at Hoylake Community Centre, 31 Hoyle Rd, Hoylake, CH47 3AG between 9:30 am and 11 am on Saturday 9 December 2017. There will be opportunities during the meeting for people to ask questions of Wirral Council and the developers behind the Hoylake Golf Resort.

Yet they don’t have the money to repair the pot holes on the roads!
I thought the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority usually passed on to the district councils any funding it received to repair the roads?
For example at a meeting of the LCRCA tomorrow, it’s indicated in a report that Wirral Council will receive next year around £2.6 million next year towards road maintenance.
Will an e-petition do any good on this matter to try and reveal the nature of the meeting, even though the council are citing their favourite old chestnut, ‘commercially sensitive information’?

There is very little information on Wirral Council’s website other than saying it’s about land assembly and associated legal costs.
Wirral Council (see regulation 25(3)) are supposed to give the reasons why it’s being held in private in a public notice 28 days before the meeting.
However the page that should have the reasons on merely lists the reason why they anticipate excluding the press and public rather than a reasoned justification as to why.
You can at this stage make representations (such as a petition) as to why you think it should be held in public. You may also want to make such representations to the decision makers too.
