Which 19 bus routes formerly run by Avon Buses are being replaced today (5th November 2018) and which 20 routes will be withdrawn?
Avon Buses Limited (based on the Wirral) ceased trading on the 5th October 2018. This led to the bus routes and school routes that Avon Buses provided ending.
On the 15th October 2018, Cllr Chris Blakeley asked Cllr Ron Abbey (Lead Member for Bus) a question about Merseytravel’s response to this at a public meeting of Wirral Council’s councillors. You can watch the question and answer in the video clip below this paragraph.

In his answer Cllr Ron Abbey referred to changes that would happen from the 5th November 2018 (today at the time of publication). The full list of replacement routes that start today can be read at this link.
Changes include the following routes 10, 10A, 16, 16A, 17, 17A, 17S (which from now becomes the 652), 22, X22, 38, 38A, 73, 80, 82, 83A, 91, 144, 628 and 652. These routes will be now run by Arriva, Stagecoach, Eazibus and Hattons.
The following routes previously operated by Avon Buses Limited have been withdrawn and will not be replaced 18, 77, 77A, 84, 85, 88, 88A, 107, 207, 208, 122, 124, 125, 145, 164, 492, 495, 613, 821 and C5.
At a meeting of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority’s Transport Committee held on Thursday afternoon (1st November 2018 which you can watch below), Lead Member for Finance Cllr Steve Foulkes explained that although the residents he represents in Claughton ward are impacted by some of the withdrawn bus routes, that the view of the ruling Labour Group on the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority Transport Committee was that replacing the withdrawn Avon Bus routes by taxpayer subsidy was too high. The Lead Member for Bus Cllr Ron Abbey was not present for this public meeting having sent his apologies to the Chair.
