We were off to Knowsley Council in Huyton for a public meeting of the Merseyside Police and Crime Panel this morning (7th February 2020) when councillors (the two from Wirral were Cllr Adrian Jones (Labour) and Cllr Les Rowlands (Conservative)) (pictured above) decided to increase the police element of council tax from April 2020.

On Thursday afternoon (11th July 2019) Leonora and I got the bus to a Remembering Srebrenica event (jointly organised by Wirral Council and the Wirral Branch of the National Education Union) held at Wirral Change at 12 Saint Laurence Drive, Birkenhead, CH41 3JD starting at 4.00 pm.

The venue used to be part of St Laurences’ Catholic Primary School before the school closed in August 2010. Part of the former school is now used for Wirral Change, part of the rest of the site but with a different entrance is used by Tomorrow Womens Wirral and I don’t know what the rest is used for.

Wirral Council’s Cabinet (as you can watch above) decided not to lend developer Nicklaus Joint Venture Group Limited an estimated £26 million of borrowed money to finance the Celtic Manor Resort scheme (previously called Hoylake Golf Resort).

Updated 5:27pm 1.7.2019 to reflect Wirral Council’s changed position on webcasting the meeting.

On Monday 1st July 2019 starting at 6.00 pm in the Council Chamber (1st floor) at Wallasey Town Hall, Brighton Street, Seacombe, CH44 8ED the Wirral & Cheshire West and Chester Joint Scrutiny Committee meets for its second public meeting to consider the consultation (which ran from 12th September 2018 to the 20th December 2018) on the closures of walk in centres. This public meeting was originally supposed to happen in February 2019, was then rearranged to June 2019 (that public meeting was then cancelled) and finally rearranged to the 1st July 2019.

Councillors Yvonne Nolan (Labour), Tony Norbury (Labour) and Mary Jordan (Conservative) are the 3 Wirral Council councillors on it. Councillors Kate Cernik (Labour), Michael Edwardson (Labour) and Lynn Riley (Conservative) are the 3 Chester West and Chester councillors on it.
