Planning Committee (Wirral Council) 22nd March 2018 Part 4 of 4 Agenda Item 14 Judicial Review Update

Last Thursday councillors at a public meeting of Wirral Council’s Planning Committee were told that the long-awaited decision in the judicial review case would be handed down soon (which can be watched in the video clip above). An oral hearing of both the permission application and the substantive judicial review were both heard on the 31st of January 2018.

Edited 27.3.2018 14:32 An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated one of the other three councils facing intervention was Castlerock, this has now been corrected to Castle Point.

The latest in an exchange of letters between the Rt Hon Sajid Javid MP (Minister for Housing, Communities and Local Government) and Cllr Phil Davies (Leader of Wirral Council) has been published.

Wirral Council’s failure to produce a Local Plan (which are their policies by which planning applications are decided) has led to intervention. Out of the fifteen local government bodies that the Rt Hon Sajid Javid MP wrote to initially (which included locally Liverpool City Council and the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority) only three (Wirral Council, Castle Point Borough Council and Thanet District Council) have caused enough concern to warrant intervention.

Ed – this was edited on 20th March 2018 at 9:33 pm to include video of the questions to Cllr Phil Davies and answers given on the 19th March 2018

Tonight (19th March 2018) I will be asking at a public meeting of Wirral Council’s councillors the following question of Cllr Phil Davies about Hoylake Golf Resort:

Cllr Phil Davies has explained at a number of public meetings what he thinks the benefits of the Hoylake Golf Resort project are, could he further please explain how the financial risks (including the financial risk of Wirral Council lending the developer millions of pounds if planning permission is granted) will be both managed and mitigated please?

Health and Wellbeing Board (Wirral Council) 14th March 2018 update on maternity

Wednesday afternoon’s public meeting of Wirral Council’s Health and Wellbeing Board started without its Chair Cllr Phil Davies. Usually if he can’t make it, one of the other two Labour Cabinet Members on the Board (Cllr Bernie Mooney and Cllr Chris Jones) chair the meeting instead.

However they weren’t there either.

A number of people who were at last night’s public meeting of the Wallasey Constituency Committee (which can be watched below) have commented on the strange decision to have verbal answers given at Public Question Time to all questions submitted by the public except from those that were in any way related to the Hoylake Golf Resort.
