Resident refused ballot paper in Birkenhead (General Election 2019)
This is a quick report on what happened when I went to vote at my local polling station (which is Holy Cross Catholic Primary School in polling district AC in Bidston and St James ward (which for the purposes of this general election of a Member of Parliament is in the Birkenhead Constituency)).

Narrator: Wallasey Town Hall, circa 2019. Submitted for councillors’ approval – one Paul Satoor – the latest in a long line of chief executives of Wirral Council. But the 800 pound gorilla in the room is the general election. In just a few days time Mr Satoor now Returning Officer will have to announce the result for Birkenhead, Wallasey, Wirral West and Wirral South.

After seven complaints had been made by members of the public (although only one of those seven Mr Paul Cardin was present for the Standards Panel) about a tweet that Cllr David Burgess-Joyce made in July 2019, councillors on Wirral Council’s Standards Panel met on 4th December 2019 to decide whether there had been a breach of the Code of Conduct.

Wirral Council decide to sell New Brighton Marine Point freehold for £3,950,000
Wirral Council has decided to sell its freehold interest in Marine Point, New Brighton (pictured above) to Marine Point Property Limited for £3,950,000.

Wirral Council’s Cabinet to decide on “in principle” purchase of around two dozen shops in Birkenhead Town Centre and whether Birkenhead Market is added to its Wirral Growth Company joint venture plans with Muse Developments
Wirral Council’s Cabinet (including the Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Growth Cllr Tony Jones pictured above) will be deciding at a meeting on 4th November 2019 to “in principle” buy around two dozen shops in Milton Pavement and one shop at 13-15 St Werburgh’s Square from Mars Pension Trustees Limited (Mars Pension Fund).
The Cabinet will also be deciding “in principle” whether to add the Birkenhead Market site to its Wirral Growth Company joint venture with Muse Developments. Cabinet will also be deciding whether to remove the Allport Lane Car Park in Bromborough from the Wirral Growth joint venture following opposition to plans for housing on Allport Lane Car Park.
