Below is Cllr Phil Davies’ reply sent yesterday to the letter, followed by two attachments. The matter was also discussed by councillors yesterday at a regular public meeting of the Environment Overview and Scrutiny Committee (although councillors and the public present were handed out the reply and two attachments at the start of that agenda item rather than the start of the meeting which left little opportunity for it to be read in detail or scrutiny).

I’m sorry i fell alseep reading all that, so i take it this is the Government running scared because of the shortage of new homes being built, looking around Wirral i would have thought we had enough houses here, and the hope one day to build 16 thousand on the Wirral Waters site, christ i hope not, its bad enough now trying to get across into Birkenhead and back again, i don’t want thousands of cars parked all of the place.
I also read between the lines about the Hoylake Golf course, well the new homes that would be built if it was passed, but all the different names for the committee’s just makes me laugh, why not just call them all Bollocks.
Yes, well to put it in a nutshell the Local Plan are the planning policies that Wirral Council should have already decided upon. Wirral Council have been doing it all too slowly so the Government threatened to intervene if Wirral Council didn’t have a good excuse.
The letter is Wirral Council trying to explain why it happened, although at least one councillor last night in response stated that it doesn’t answer the point about exceptional circumstances.
As far as I know the Government can step in and do it instead of Wirral Council. It remains to be seen what the Government response will be though.
