Saturday (3rd March 2018) saw another one day strike by RMT on both the Merseyrail and Northern Rail train networks, both strikes are over the issue of guards and public safety.

Pictured above was the protest outside Liverpool Lime Street train station, Liverpool on a cold and snowy morning.

Out talking to the public yesterday in both Liverpool and Southport, I was told by a number of people who instead of taking the Merseyrail train journeys they would normally, they were instead taking buses.

Birkenhead Constituency Committee (Wirral Council) 1st March 2018 Part 1 of 2

Yesterday evening saw the Birkenhead Constituency Committee meet for the first time at the Wirral Deen Centre on Borough Road on a cold, snowy evening that the Vice-Chair described as “horrendous”.

Prior to the public meeting starting, there was a chance from 6 pm for informal networking and to sample multicultural food.

The author of this piece declares an interest as I am married to a person liable for council tax in the Merseyside area. I also declare an interest as the future closure of Upton Fire Station will lengthen response times to the area I live in.
