On Thursday afternoon, the councillors on the Transport Committee of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority had a public meeting. As I was still on my way back from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Headquarters to Liverpool City Centre following a public meeting of the Merseyside Fire and Rescue Authority, my two questions about vandalism involving bus stops and bus shelters were asked in my absence by Louise Outram.

What was in a letter from Merseyside Police to candidates standing in elections to be a councillor warning them not to break the law?

A letter from Merseyside Police to all candidates and agents (which can be viewed above) in the elections of a councillor to Wirral Council states that there will be “a focus on education rather than education rather than prosecuting minor breaches of Electoral Law” but at the same time warns that, “It is the absolute responsibility that all candidates and agents should make themselves aware of these guidelines and if someone is going to run as a candidate then ignorance of these guidelines will not be a defence.”

Yesterday saw the last Wallasey Constituency Committee public meeting in Committee Room 1 at Wallasey Town Hall as next month it will be no more.

Indeed, its Chair Labour Cllr Bernie Mooney is also leaving as a councillor in a few weeks.

Birkenhead Constituency Committee (Wirral Council) 1st March 2018 Part 1 of 2

Yesterday evening saw the Birkenhead Constituency Committee meet for the first time at the Wirral Deen Centre on Borough Road on a cold, snowy evening that the Vice-Chair described as “horrendous”.

Prior to the public meeting starting, there was a chance from 6 pm for informal networking and to sample multicultural food.
